The Top 10 Best Movie Brothers

5. Bob and Walt Tenor- Stuck On You

And you thought your brother was clingy.

Personal space is an important part of growing up. After all, sometimes you just need to get away from it all to relax and collect your thoughts. Well, Bob and Walt don’t have that luxury since they’re conjoined twins. I’ll admit I always have a lot of questions whenever TLC rolls out a special on conjoined twins and Stuck on You tackles a lot of them (though probably not in any accurate way). Bob and Walt are literally joined at the hip, which means they kind of have to find a way to get along and make things work. From dating to following their dreams, Bob and Walt have to make sacrifices for one another but excel at the “give-and-take” game. Even when they finally are separated they still keep that brotherly bond going strong, making them two of the best movie brothers of all time.

4. Frederico “Fredo”, Santino “Sonny”, and Michael Corleone- The Godfather

An upstanding Italian-American family.

Old white guys sure do love The Godfather. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not knocking it and honestly believe it to be a masterpiece of cinema, but there are some seriously scary fans out there that idolize it. Still, that doesn’t mean that the Corleone boys don’t deserve a spot on here among the best movie brothers of all time. Being Italian, family means everything and they would do anything for each other (even when family proves to be incredibly toxic for your own mental health). Sonny, Fredo, and Michael all made incredible sacrifices for the sake of the Corleone name and because of that, it became one of the biggest crime families in America. Their relationship is almost Shakspearian in how tragic it is, but not all movie brothers end up with happy endings.

3. Charlie and Raymond Babbitt- Rain Man

Every girl crazy ’bout a sharp dressed man.

Like Gilbert Grape, Charlie Babbitt has a very special brother. Unlike Gilbert though, he never knew that his brother existed until after the death of his estranged father. Meeting his autistic savant brother as an adult, Charlie decides to try to gain custody of Raymond in hope of getting his hands on the money that their late father left for him. Turns out that Charlie has no idea how to take care of a brother he’s never known and finds himself in over his head due to Raymond’s disabilities. Just as he’s ready to throw in the towel, he realizes that Raymond’s savant syndrome makes him a God at Black Jack and the two head to Vegas. The road trip brings them closer together and after discovering what brotherly love is all about, Charlie does the right thing and looks out for his older brother.

2. “Joliet” Jake and Elwood Blues- The Blues Brothers

Bring me four fried chickens, a Coke, and some dry white toast.

Straight from Saturday Night Live come two of the best movie brothers of all time. Jake and Elwood grew up in a Catholic Orphanage together before taking the world by storm as one of the greatest movie bands of all time. That ended though when Jake got locked up for three years and the band broke up. Out on good behavior, Jake and Elwood discover their home is set to be destroyed and vow to save the orphanage come hell or high water. Getting the band back together, they set out on a crazy road trip to raise enough money to keep the orphanage open. The brothers get into plenty of trouble along the way, but that’s nothing to worry about since Elwood is a devil behind the wheel. They might not be much on words, but that’s because Jake and Elwood are always 100% in sync. I guess great minds do think alike.

1. Julius and Vincent Benedict- Twins

I hate when they dress the same. I can never tell them apart.

Looking at Julius and Vincent, you might not think that they’re related. The two are actually long lost twins though (fraternal, not identical) who have never met before. Learning of Vincent’s existence Julius leaves the jungle paradise he was raised in to find his brother in the big, bad city of Los Angeles. The two finally meet and discover that they are very, VERY different people. Julius was raised to be the pinnacle of mental and physical perfection but has no idea how the real world actually works (the dude is a 35-year-old virgin). Vincent though is as street smart as they come, but not the brightest when it comes to making good decisions. Together, these two movie brothers set out to find their birth mother and learn the truth behind why they never met. Twins is a heartwarming and hilarious film about the bond between brothers and the lengths they will go for each other, making Julius and Vincent my pick for the best movie brothers of all time.

Honorable Mention: Samuel, Jeffery, and Michael Douglas (AKA Rocky, Colt, and Tum-Tum)-  3 Ninjas

International crime syndicates cower in the face of the 3 ninjas.

Look, we were all 10 years old at one time and with that came a serious lack of taste when it comes to cinema. So, I’m asking that you don’t judge me too harshly for this shout out to the movie brothers from 3 Ninjas. After all, I could have put the ones from Surf Ninjas on here instead.

There you have it, my choices for the 10 best movie brothers of all time. There are tons of them out there though, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on who made this list as well as if there are any other movie brothers you think should have earned a spot on here. As always, I’ll be updating the rankings as new and improved movie brothers make it to theaters. So, be sure to check back in the future to see how the rankings change.
