The Top 10 Best Movie Lawyers

1. Atticus Finch- To Kill a Mocking Bird

Not just a lawyer, but a hero.

Hopefully, everyone in the country was required to read To Kill a Mocking Bird in school and knows the story of Atticus Finch. When a black man is accused of raping a white girl, Atticus is the only lawyer in Maycomb, Alabama, who agrees to take the case. Despite the predominant racism of the time, Atticus is an intelligent man who knows just how ignorant the views of his neighbors are. He fights tooth and nail to save the young man and ensures that the people accusing him are properly humiliated in court. Even when threatened, Atticus refuses to back down and sticks to his morals, proving himself to be one of the greatest fictional heroes of all time. Atticus is a man who teaches us to fight the good fight, even if victory is all but impossible. He’s a role model for us all to look up to, especially in today’s political climate.

Honorable Mentions:

Vincent Gambini- My Cousin Vinnie

He’s really good at arguing.

It pained me not to include this Joe Pecci character on my list because he’s such a damn good lawyer. Vinny isn’t technically a lawyer though because he never passed the bar. Still, the character deserves a shout out!

Elle Woods- Legally Blonde

She brings a bit of color with her to court.

Like Vinny, Elle wasn’t technically a lawyer when she saw her day in court. She was a legal intern allowed to represent her client as long as a licensed lawyer oversaw her. Still, this girl has class, sass, and plenty of… Smarts. Earning her a shout out as well.

Frank Abagnale Jr- Catch Me if You Can

I guess anyone can be a lawyer.

One of the greatest movie con-men of all time even managed to trick the state of Louisiana into thinking he was a lawyer. What makes him so impressive is that he actually manages to pass the bar without ever going to law school. The real-life Abagnale even managed to get a job in the State Attorney’s office.

Personally, I’d be happy to have any of these movie lawyers represent me in court. I’d like to hear what you think of the list though in the comments below. Tell me if there are any that you object to and who you would have like to have seen earn a spot instead. As always I’ll be updating this list as new movie lawyers appear on the big screen. So, be sure to check back to see how the rankings change!
