The Best Series to Binge Watch Before Halloween

3. Ash vs The Evil Dead (Netflix)

best series
Groovy.

Bad news friends, Ash vs The Evil Dead was canceled after season three. The good news is that you can stream the first two seasons on Netflix! Not only is it a great horror/ comedy show, but it’s also one of the best series I’ve ever seen based off a movie. Bruce Campbell reprises his role as the deadite hunter Ash Campbell and he’s got his hands (hand?) more than a little full with a renewed wave of demon scum. He’s not alone though and with the help of his wisecracking partners in crime he sets out to save the world again. This show has plenty of over the top gore, terrifying jokes, and some jokes that are a little less than PC (but still really funny). Ash vs The Evil Dead manages to capture all the camp that we loved from the original trilogy and I have to say the world is a little bit better for it.

2. Castle Rock (Hulu)

best series
When you’re in Stephen King’s world, you really need to keep looking over your shoulder.

Are you a big Stephen King fan? Then you’re going to love this original series based on the mythos of his “universe.” The film incorporates a lot of the elements from his more famous novels, including The Shawshank Redemption and much more. In it, a lawyer returns to his hometown and uncovers that there are lots of dark secrets lurking under the surface. Worst of all many of these secrets are far from natural, which means he has to watch his back while trying to do the right thing. Castle Rock had a lot of hype and even more to live up to tackling one the works of a literary giant like Stephen King. I’m still finishing the first season, but from what I’ve seen Castle Rock has more than earned a spot on this list of the best series to watch for Halloween.

1. The Haunting of Hill House (Netflix)

best series
Something tells me they got this house at a police auction…

If you’re looking for a series you haven’t seen to watch this Halloween, Netflix pretty much has you covered with The Haunting of Hill House. It premieres October 12, which makes it perfect for this list. I’m going out on a limb here but I’ve got a good feeling about this new show. The cast and crew look pretty solid and for the most part, Netflix has done pretty well with its series (as long as you don’t look too hard at some of their Marvel shows). This series looks to be based on the classic haunted house movie(s) of the same name and I’m hoping that it will be able to take the tale to the next level by giving it the attention it deserves over the course of 10 episodes. This could all blow up in my face though if the series turns out to suck. Then again, Halloween is that time of year where terrible movies are enjoyed by all so why shouldn’t we appreciate bad horror series as well?

Those are my recommendations of some of the best series to binge-watch before Halloween. There are plenty of other horror show out there though, so be sure to comment below with your favorite that’s available to stream right now.
