Ranking the Strongest Marvel Superheroines of the MCU

5. Okoye (Danai Gurira)

female superheroes
She is terrifying.

Civil War teased a possible throw down between Black Widow and Okoye, which is a battle of the Marvel superheroines I would have loved to have seen. Despite being an OG Avenger though, Black Widow would probably still have had one hell of a fight on her hands. That’s because, of all the superheroes in the MCU, none of them scare me quite as much as Okoye. She might not be number one on this list, but only because she doesn’t have actual superpowers. Even then, I don’t doubt that she could kick the crap out of most of the superpowered beings out there (just ask Bucky). For those still doubting her badassery, keep in mind her day job is the guardian of Black Panther. Let that sink in. One of the heavy hitters within the MCU has her as his bodyguard. He’s got vibranium armor, decades of training, and superpowers from the heart-shaped herb, and she is protecting him. I think that says enough.

4. Gamora (Zoe Saldana)

female superheroes
Won’t see Black Widow packing firepower like this.

Gamora is an ultra assassin trained by Thanos himself to be the most dangerous woman in the universe (which comes with a ton of baggage, but what superhero doesn’t have baggage?). While Black Widow might be the most dangerous woman on Earth, but last time I checked the universe was a bit bigger than Earth. Of course, Black Widow’s never been killed before, but she also never went toe to toe with Thanos. Gamora is pretty much Black Widow, but with superhuman strength, speed, and agility tossed in there, and that means she just edges out the super-spy. However, she’s still not the most dangerous of the Marvel superheroines.

3. Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson)

female superheroes
And she can make one hell of an entrance.

We’ve seen a lot of incredibly impressive Marvel superheroines so far, but none of them are as powerful as Valkyrie. First of all, she’s an Asgardian which means she’s already one of the strongest characters on this list. However, she was also a Valkyrie, which is basically the Special Forces of Asgard. When Hela killed them all off she was the only survivor and found work as one of the Grandmaster’s most trusted warriors who basically went around capturing other fighters (including Thor and Hulk) for his arena. Loki was one of the biggest threats to the Avengers and she mopped the floor with him. As far as I’m concerned, Valkyrie has proven she is easily one of the most powerful Marvel superheroines in the MCU and was the best part of Thor: Ragnarok.

2. Scarlett Witch (Elizabeth Olsen)

You wouldn’t like her when she’s angry.

To be honest, I don’t think the MCU has really shown us what Scarlett Witch is truly capable of. After all, she’s one of the most powerful superheroes in the entire Marvel Universe who can alter the very fabric of reality. Even holding back, Wanda kept Iron Man on the ropes with her abilities when Captain America needed help during Civil War. Then after Infinity War she really put a smackdown on Thanos for killing her beloved vision. Despite laying the Titan out, she was still holding back (less though that time). However, after the events of WandaVision, I think Scarlet Witch is set to become one of the biggest powerhouses in the MCU. The only question is if her mind will be able to handle all that power after facing so much trauma in her life. I certainly hope she stays on the side of good for the sake of the rest of the women on this list.

1. Captain Marvel (Brie Larson)

female superheroes
She took on Skrulls, Kree, and Internet Trolls.

Captain Marvel is the strongest superhero in the MCU. PERIOD. Don’t believe me? Ask the guy in charge. Not only does she have super strength and the power of flight, but she shoots freaking lasers out of her hands! Combine that with the training she got in the Air Force and the combat training she received from the Kree empire and Carol Danvers is truly a force to be reckoned with. Think of her as a superhuman commando. While she might not really be the stealthiest character on this list of Marvel superheroines, she’s the hammer that’s going to be used to smash Thanos to pieces in Endgame. No matter what the internet trolls might say, Captain Marvel is one hell of a superhero.

So, what do you think? Are these rankings correct? Did I miss any MCU Marvel superheroines? Let me know what you think in the comments below. Be sure to check back from time to time though, because at the rate that Marvel keeps pumping out movies these rankings are sure to change quickly.
