Now Streaming: December 2018
There’s Stil Plenty of Great New Content Coming to Streaming Services in 2018
2018 is coming to an end, but there’s still a lot of great movies and series to add to your streaming queue. This month we’ve got a bunch of amazing classics, some truly great series to check out, and one or two new movies that have caught my attention. I know the holidays can be stressful, so I gathered together some of the more interesting new additions coming this month to make sure you have plenty of options when it comes to blowing off some steam. So when family, shopping, and everything else gets to you, make sure you check out some of these great new additions to the top three streaming services!
Prime
Boogie Nights (December 1st)
If you’re looking to stream one of the greatest movies of all time about the “movie biz” then you’re in luck, because Boogie Nights is heading to Prime this December. For those of you who haven’t seen it, I should warn that this might not be the “movie biz” you’re thinking of. You see, Boogie Nights is about the hay day of porn in Southern California in the 1970s and features one of the most incredible ensemble casts ever gathered on screen.
Groundhog Day (December 1st)
It might be a little early to start talking about Groundhog’s Day, but since Christmas can’t seem to wait for Thanksgiving before throwing up decorations, I’m going to allow it. This is one of Bill Murray’s greatest movies that he’s ever made and I don’t say that lightly. So, if you’re looking for a gut-busting comedy to stream when the stress of Christmas starts to get to you, look no further.
A Fish Called Wanda (December 1st)
There have been some great heist movies over the years, but none of them warm my heart quite like A Fish Called Wanda. It features a bunch of bumbling idiots who end up pulling off quite a diamond heist. It turns out that the stealing was the easy part because it turns out they all can’t wait to stab each other in the back. Personally, I love it because Kevin Kline is at his best in it. If you haven’t seen it, it’s well worth adding to your streaming queue.
The Naked Gun Movies (December 1st)
Christmas is a stressful time of year. There’s decorating the tree, cooking that feast, elbowing that old lady in the nose to get that perfect gift. It’s enough to drive us crazy. Luckily, Amazon has out back by adding some of the greatest comedy movies of all time starring the late, great Leslie Nielsen. The adventures of Frank Drebin are guaranteed to make even the toughest Scrooge crack a smile.
Hereditary (December 27th)
If there’s one movie that left a lasting impression on me this year, it was Hereditary. It’s a gut-wrenching horror movie in all the best possible ways. There’s even been a bit of talk about some potential Oscar nominations. So, if you want to watch a movie that will make you feel a lot better about all the stress you have in your life, then you wont want to miss out on streaming Hereditary on Prime. Just a heads up that it’s definitely not for the faint of heart.
Hulu
The Shawshank Redemption (December 1st)
One of the best movies of all time is going to be available for streaming December 1st on Hulu! Stephen King fans are definitely going to want to add this to their queue and quite honestly, you should too. It tells the tale of two friends who meet in one of the worst prisons on the planet. The two spend decades together getting into all kinds of misadventures. In all seriousness though, prison is a brutal place and this movie convinced me at a young age to avoid it at all costs.
The Exorcist (December 1st)
Wouldn’t you know it, as soon as I put together a list of the Best Possession Movies one of the best ones of all time comes to Hulu! If you haven’t seen this film, there’s a reason why it’s been the big dog when it comes to possession movies over the years and it’s one you won’t want to miss out on. It’s got everything you could want from a horror movie, a creepy kid, a demon, and plenty of green puke!
F**K That’s Delicious: Complete Season 3 (December 5th)
I just stumbled upon this show a few weeks ago and I binged the hell out of it. Action Bronson might be well known for being a rapper, but it turns out that he’s quite the foodie too. When he’s not onstage around the world, he’s wandering around to find some of the best food he can. I love it because he’s a man of the people with one hell of a palette and I can’t help wishing I was with him trying the insane goodies he finds in every episode. Oh, and he’s hilarious as well. Definitely worth streaming if you haven’t seen it before.
I Am Not a Serial Killer (December 13th)
I accidentally stumbled upon this gem when it first came out a few years ago and fell in love with it. It tells the tale of a teen in a small town who might just be a budding serial killer. The thing is that he runs into a literal monster one night and it falls on him to help save his town. The twist is that this literal monster doesn’t have the same killer rive that our fledgling killer is and the rest of the film examines what the difference is between the literal and figurative when it comes to the darkness within man.
Into the Dark: New Year, New You (December 28th)
So far Into the Dark has been hit or miss so far with their first two films, but I’m willing to see how it does on the best 2 out of 3. Like the previous movies, not a lot is known about the plot of this film, but you can bet your britches that it’s going to be a creepy horror film. So far we’ve seen a hitman and a serial killer, so I can’t wait to see what they have for us next. If you’re a fan of b-horror flicks, then you’ll definitely want to add this to your streaming queue.
