The Scariest Aliens from Movies

Space Might Seem Exciting, But Wait Until You Get A Load of some of the Scariest Aliens from the Silver Screen!

After years of watching movies, I’ve decided that space is not the place for me. Why might you ask? Well, because it’s filled with some of the scariest aliens you could possibly imagine! I’ll take my chances here on earth, thank you very much. For those of you brave enough to imagine life among the stars, let me give you a few examples of creatures that might make you think twice about signing up to explore the galaxy. Of course, not all these guys come from truly great alien movies, but that’s not what this list is about. You want to talk about symbolism and realistic depictions of life around the universe, go have fun at a library, nerd. Today we’re talking about fangs, claws and everything else that extraterrestrials might use to turn you into a brand new people suit. Keep in mind that this isn’t your standard top 10 list so these aliens are in no particular order. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t double check the batteries in your night light and take a second peek under the bed, because these are definitely the scariest aliens you’ve seen on the big screen.

Bioraptor- Pitch Black

scariest aliens
Aw, he’s smiling.

Back before Vin Diesel was fast or furious, he was a stone cold killer. He plays an escaped convict in the film Pitch Black who is as terrifying as they come. So how do you make a psycho killer look like a hero? Pit him against something from the depths of your nightmares. More specifically the Bioraptors, a species of photosensitive predators that use echolocation to hunt and confuse their prey. To make matters worse, these creatures only come out of hiding during a total solar eclipse, which means while you’re stumbling around in the dark they’ve got you right in their sights. When these things finally do strike, their teeth and claws will shred anything unlucky enough to be on the menu like they’re made of tissue paper. If these things can give Vin a hard time you know they’ve got to be some of the scariest aliens from the silver screen.

Arachnids- Starship Troopers

scariest aliens
Sir, the bug bomb is having no effect!

While the Bioraptors might be some of the scariest aliens from movies, they’re basically just a bunch of dumb beasts. The Arachnids, on the other hand, are dumb beasts that understand warfare. These giant bugs decide that Earth is getting a little too big for its britches and launch an apocalyptic first strike on the planet. Of course, man does what man does best and sets out to exterminate the pests. The problem is that these things managed to get their pincers on a copy of Sun Tzu’s The Art of War and that means they’re not going down without a fight. What should have been an easy win for mankind turned into a long a terrifying war against bugs the size of minivans. We’re lucky that the brave men and women of the Orkin Forces stepped up when we needed them most.

Calvin- Life

scariest aliens
He just wants cuddles. It’s cold out in space, man.

The biggest problem I had with Life was that there was nowhere near enough Ryan Reynolds in it. The second biggest problem I had with Life was that it’s got one of the scariest aliens I’ve seen in years. This little bastard went from being a few cells to a perfectly adapted and cunning alien. Over the course of Life, Calvin continues to grow and change in order to give himself the advantage in almost every situation he comes across. To make matters worse the bastard is pretty damn smart. Try as they might, the astronauts trapped on the space station with him just can’t seem to get the upper hand and he goes through them like an all you can eat buffet. So when he sets his sights on Earth you know mankind is going to be up a creek without a paddle.

The Blob- The Blob

scariest aliens
That’s now how we make friends, Blobert!

I affectionately referred to this big guy as Blobert in the Stars & Popcorn 10 Best Giant Movie Monsters, but make no mistakes about it. Blobert is about as far as you can get from big and cuddly. The fact that he’s basically a giant oozing digestive tract that can melt you down faster than you can say “terrible 80’s remake” makes him well worthy of appearing on this list of the scariest aliens. You can run all you want, but even if just a drop of this guy gets on you it’s all over. There are plenty of horrible ways to die in space, but I think slowly getting melted down into alien slop is probably one of the worst ways to go. That’s a top 10 list for another day though. Until then, let’s all just agree that Blobert wouldn’t make for a very good pet.

Sil– Species

scariest aliens
Ok, she looked totally different in the club last night.

I have a hard enough time meeting women, so the last thing I really need to be worried about is that they’re terrifying aliens in disguise. Back when softcore porn could pass for a Hollywood movie, Natasha Henstridge was playing an alien who wanted the D more than anything. Of course, the “D” I’m referring to is the destruction of all of mankind. While she might not have had the claws that some of the other members of this list, Sil had a few other predatory talents that have rightfully earned her a place among the scariest aliens. I mean, it’s just so upsetting that she would just use men for their bodies like that. We’re human beings with personalities and dreams… Ok, so most of those dreams were about Natasha Henstridge after Species came out, but this is one mama alien you don’t want hitting on you in the club.

Brandon- Brightburn

That’s a nice costume you’ve got there, bud.

Sure, DC comics has toyed with the idea of an evil Superman before with “What if” stories, but we’ve never really seen what a being with that sort of power might truly be capable of if they just turned on mankind. Well, the Gunn‘s decided to show us with the help of director David Yarovesky. The film starts off very similar to the Man of Steel’s childhood. A single couple finds an alien spacecraft with a baby in it. Not really thinking things through, they adopt the little bastard and keep his secret. Well, little Brandon starts to go through some changes as he gets older and soon he’s a budding psychopath with a total lack of empathy and superpowers. Not just any superpowers, but ones that make him more or less a God among ants. His rampage is absolutely chilling as he goes from a happy child to a potential enslaver of humanity.
