5 Amazing Movie Theme Parks

These Movie Theme Parks Seem Like Awesome Vacation Spots

I’m a big fan of movie and theme parks, so it only makes sense that I’d be nerdy enough to sit down and put together a list of some of the best movie theme parks that we’ll never get a chance to visit. It turns out there aren’t a ton of fictional theme parks out there. Most movies use existing parks like Seaworld in Jaws 3 and Disney World in Escape from Tomorrow. However, all the entries on this list are from pretty memorable movies ranging from horror to comedy and everything in between. I can’t say I’d want to pay the price of admission to all of the theme parks that managed to make this list, but I wouldn’t say to some free tickets. The thing is if you’d want those tickets as well? So let me know what you think of each of the entries on this list in the comments below. In the meantime, slap on your sunscreen and get your Fastpass ready, because we’re heading to some of the most magical places in movie land.

Jurassic Park/ Jurassic World- Jurassic Park and Jurassic World

Looks like Seaworld is going out of business.

Set on the beautiful islands of Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna, Jurassic Park/ Jurassic World are two of the most unique theme parks to make this list. You might remember them from Stars & Popcorn’s 10 Worst Movie Islands to Visit, which is still true, especially when it comes to the actual first Jurassic Park. Jurassic World operated for years without an incident though and I’d honestly take a chance on this park as long as they weren’t getting ready to premiere any new dinosaurs. If I did though I wouldn’t go mucking about where I wasn’t supposed to and just stick to the marked pathway and make sure I have plenty of another tourist between me and the dinos at all time.

Westworld- Westworld

Have you tried turning him off and turning him back on again?

Before it was a hit on HBO, Westworld was one of a number of theme parks offering a number of full immersive experiences for their guest. Honestly, though I hope Westworld isn’t completely authentic, because it’s going to smell absolutely awful in there if is it. In theory, it sounds like an absolutely amazing opportunity and something that I can see being an incredible time. However, we all know what happens when you start getting robots involved with robots and AI. It’s the very definition of Murphy’s Law and pretty soon the androids unionize in the worst possible. Luckily we haven’t had anything like that happen IRL, but I’m still keeping an eye on the Hall of Presidents over at Disneyland.

Walley World- National Lampoon’s Vacation

theme parks
Wait… Theme parks don’t “close.”

National Lampoon’s Vacation features one of the most iconic movie theme parks of all time. While most of the film focuses on the journey to get to Walley World, we do get to see the Griswold family enjoy a bit of time at there… At gunpoint. From what we do get to see, Walley World looks like it has something for everyone. Sure, it’s not Universal Studios, but it looks like a place you could have some genuine fun at and I’m a bit envious that I’ll never get to visit. Of course, I could always visit Santa Anita Park and Six Flags Magic Mountain where they filmed most of the scenes, but it just wouldn’t be the same. If it was though, I’d definitely just take a plan and avoid the whole road trip hassle.

Adventureland- Adventureland

theme parks
It’s a living.

Theme parks don’t always have to be huge or elaborate. In fact, sometimes they can be garbage. Adventure seems more like a glorified fair but doesn’t make me want to spend a day there any less, because fairs are fun. Seeing the daily grind that goes on behind the scenes in Adventureland makes it a little less magical, but no one likes seeing how the sausage is made. It’s far from the most glamours of the theme parks we’ve looked at so far, but the chance s of you having to wait in line or dying are pretty slim, and that’s a huge plus in my book. I’m not saying I’d fly across the country to spend a day at Adventureland, but if it was a local spot I’d definitely take a few trips out there to have a day of fun and games.

Pacific Playland- Zombieland

theme parks
Drunk tourists or zombies? You decide!

Just like National Lampoon Vacation’s, Zombieland is a road trip to a theme park that, unfortunately, doesn’t exist. Like so many of the theme parks on this list, the visit we get to see is not under the best circumstance. However, while other parks had killer dinos and robots, Pacific Playland has a whole other mess of problems. Namely ones with an appetite for brains. Still, it looks like an absolute blast and if you wish you could visit Pacific Playland you’re in luck because they filmed those parts of Zombieland at Wild Adventures Water and Theme Park. Of course, there won’t be any zombies when you visit, just a bunch of mindless tourist wandering around and bumping into each other… Then again it doesn’t sound like you’d really be missing out on anything.

Those are just five of the theme parks I wish I could visit from movies. There aren’t a ton of other ones out there, but I’d love to hear what fictional theme parks would you like to visit given the chance? Be sure to leave a comment below!
