5 Marvel Netflix Spinoff Series That Need to Happen

There Are Plenty of Options for Marvel Netflix Spin-Offs!

Marvel Netflix series are all the rage among comic geeks (as long as you don’t count Iron First). However, recent rumors at that Disney is going to be starting its own stream service and will be taking Marvel and Star Wars with it. The good news is that Netflix gets to keep the heroes it has… For now. So, if they’re not able to create new Marvel Netflix series, then what’s their next move? How about a few spin-off series? So far the Marvel Netflix universe has done a great job of introducing characters in other series before giving them shows of their own (take a look at The Punisher and Luke Cage). There are so many characters that have been introduced so far, that it would be easy to create some pretty incredible series with them.

Jeri Hogarth

Marvel Netflix
Super Attorney!

Now hear me out before you groan and roll your eyes. Courtroom procedural series are all the rage on tv. So why not make a Marvel Netflix series in the same vein? Normally I’d throw out She-Hulk for this series, but if Netflix isn’t going to get the rights to her, then they could use good old Jerri Hogarth. After the second season of Jessica Jones, Jerri found out that she was sick and most likely dying. Now would be a great time for her to try to redeem herself by taking on super cases pro-bono. Best of all there are plenty of opportunities for other characters to make appearances. From Jessica Jones to Matt Murdock and much more, this series would be ripe for guest appearances and implications that could echo throughout the Marvel Netflix universe.

Elektra

Marvel Netflix
What ever happened to Elektra?

Elektra proved she was a formidable bad-ass in the Defenders series when she managed to single-handedly take over The Hand and beat the Defenders. So, what happens now for the character? Is she still brainwashed? Does she want to be the leader of the Hand? Does she want to redeem herself for the horrors she committed while working for them? The Elektra series has the opportunity for the character to bounce around the world trying to get her head straight and figure out what comes next for one of the deadliest assassins in Marvel. Much like The Punisher, she doesn’t have any qualms when it comes to killing people and she’s proven that she is one of the most skilled fighters in all the Netflix Marvel series. So, why not give her a chance to shine?

Patsy Walker (Hellcat)

Marvel Netflix
It’s Patsy!

Things aren’t going so hot for Patsy and Jessica as of the end of Jessica Jones season 2. They seem to have parted ways for now, but it also looks like Patsy might finally have some powers of her own. That’s why Netflix should consider a Hellcat series. Hellcat is a street-level vigilante and with Patsy’s training, newfound powers, and determination she could be quite the hero. Imagine her trying to be the hero she always hoped Jessica would be, only to discover it’s not as easy or romantic as she thought it might be. A Hellcat series could rebuild the bridge between the two of them. That being said, Patsy might not have what it takes for her own series right now, but that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t be a great addition to this next one…

Heroes for Hire

Marvel Netflix
They’re good, but their hourly rate is insane!

Traditionally Heroes for Hire has been a Luke Cage and Iron Fist thing. Since Iron Fist sucks in his Marvel Netflix series though, I have another proposal for the series. Netflix has rolled out some great, strong female characters and I think they should team up for their own series. My vision of Heroes for Hire would include Misty Knight, Colleen Wing, Patsy Walker, Claire Temple, and Karen Page (as much as I hate the character). With Patsy’s new found powers and desire to be a vigilante she could be the catalyst to bring all these characters together to protect the people that the Defenders might not have the time for. Of course, their little agency would uncover an incredible villain threatening the city and they would have to come together to defeat them just in the nick of time.

Kingpin

Marvel Netflix
The rise of the Kingpin of Crime.

Kingpin is easily one of the best villains in the Marvel Netflix series. Vincent D’Onofrio was absolutely jaw dropping when he first appeared in Daredevil and since then he’s stolen the show every time he’s made an appearance. With The Hand defeated and him coming out of prison, a Kingpin series could follow him trying to rebuild his empire while having to deal with those that have risen to power in his absence. All sorts of crime lord characters could show up from The Hood to Billy Russo could make up his new found enemies. Not to mention I’m sure Daredevil wouldn’t be too happy to see him back to his old tricks. Toss in some flashbacks showing his initial rise to power and this could be one of the most invigorating Marvel Netflix series to date. I know I would binge-watch the hell out of this!

Of course, it would be awesome for some more characters to get their own Marvel Netflix series, but lawyers have a way of making sure fans never get what they want. That being said, Netflix could skirt around contracts by creating these spin-off series. That being said, there would definitely need to be some new characters added (say Bullseye or even The Russian) to keep things interesting. What do you think though?
