5 New Movies to Look Forward to In November 2018

November Might Just Be the Best Month for New Movies All Year!

November looks like it might be the best month for new movies we’ve had all year. There have been some truly great films in 2018 so far, but every week in November is chalked full of movies that look pretty damn good. That means that I had a hard time narrowing it down to just five new movies to look forward to. With films like The Girl in the Spider’s Web, The Front Runner, and Green Book among some of the ones not getting a shout out this month, it’s a safe bet that there’s going to be something for everyone coming up soon. Of course, that didn’t stop me from trying to find the best of what looks like a pretty great month at the theaters. So be sure to take a look the five I’ve selected and comment below what other new movies you’re looking forward to this month!

Bohemian Rhapsody (November 2nd)

Rami Malek has given increasingly impressive performances over the years from Mr. Robot to the recent Papillion remake. So, I’m more than a little excited to see what he does with the role of Freddy Mercury, one of the greatest musicians who ever lived. It’s no secret that I’m a huge Queen fan and I have a feeling that this is going to be a movie that rakes in the Oscar nominations this year. Of course, we had the recent musician based film A Star is Born, but that felt full of melodrama while Bohemian Rhapsody looks to be a movie that will celebrate the life of an incredible showman who forever changed the face of rock n roll. I know that I would be seeing this movie on opening night even if I wasn’t writing a review of it, so I suggest you get your tickets now!

Overlord (November 9th)

I love genre matchups, so a horror film set during World War II sounds like it’s going to be right up my alley. Best of all it’s going to be produced by J.J. Abrams. Say what you like about him as a director, but he definitely knows how to bring all the right elements together to make tremendous films. Best of all, I’m sure that it will feature a lot of Nazis getting just what they deserve (something we could do a little more with these days). So far, 2018 has had some pretty great horror movies from Hereditary to the new Halloween, and I’m hoping that this trend continues because I’ve been looking forward to this ever since I saw the first trailer months ago. Plus, with all the serious movies coming out in November and December, it’ll be good to sit back, relax and enjoy a mindless horror flick… That is until Overlord gets to the point where I have to cover my eyes out of fear.

Ralph Breaks the Internet (November 23rd)

I’ve been pleasantly surprised with animated movies in theaters this year. Of course, The Incredibles 2 and The Isle of Dogs are early Oscar contenders, but there’s still time for another animated movie to throw its hat into the ring. I really enjoyed the first Wreck-It Ralph film and it’s going to be good to see John C. Reily tackle another goofy role after his driven performance in The Sisters Brothers. While Pixar still might be king with it comes to animated feature films, Disney still knows how to make truly great films and I have a feeling Ralph Breaks the Internet is going to show off just how huge the company is now that it owns Marvel and Star Wars. It’s quickly becoming the powerhouse of fandoms and I hope that it shows just how great it is with this new animated movie.

Robin Hood (November 23rd)

I’m quickly becoming a big fan of Taron Egerton after the Kingsman movies. He’s got plenty of charm and can really pull off some impressive action sequences. So I can think of no one better to take on the role of Robin Hood. Toss in Jamie Foxx as Little John and Ben Mendelsohn as the Sheriff of Nottingham and you’ve definitely peaked my interest. The trailer makes it look like a thrilling action flick that’s really going to make the most of Robin’s archery skills. While director Otto Bathurst hasn’t had feature film experience, he’s worked on some incredible series such as Black Mirror and Peaky Blinders, which makes me think he’ll be just fine bringing this classic character back to the big screen. I’m willing to bet that it will be an awesome adventure film flick that will be well worth the price of admission.

Creed II (November 23rd)

Truth be told I wasn’t a huge fan of the first Creed film. I liked it well enough, but I wasn’t crazy about it. That means I wasn’t thrilled about them making a sequel to it, but the newest trailer has kind of sold me on it. The fact that he’s fighting the son of Ivan Drago, who also happens to be a boxer is a little bit of a stretch even for me. After Black Panther, though I’m willing to give any Michael B. Jordan the benefit of the doubt, especially if it means getting some epic fight scenes. I’m just hoping that this time around the film lays off the melodrama and daddy issues that young Creed faced in the first movie. I get that it’s kind of the cornerstone of his character, but it would be nice to see him forging his own path rather than trying to follow in his father’s footsteps.

Those are just a few of the amazing looking new movies hitting theaters in November. It was tough narrowing it down to just five and there are a ton more than the ones I listed that I’m looking forward to this month. That being said, I’d love to hear what new movies you’re looking forward to. Be sure to leave a comment below and I’ll be sure to get you the reviews so you know what films are worth your time and energy this holiday season!
