The Top 10 Best Movie Restaurants

These Movie Restaurants Will Get Your Mouth Watering.

One thing that always drives me crazy is when I see great movie restaurants only to find out that I’ll never have a chance to eat at them. Seriously, there have been some delicious looking meals served up in movie restaurants over the years, which is why I’ve decided to pull together a list of the 10 where I’d love to grab a bite to eat at. The rules for this list is that it has to be a place that serves meals (so no bars or lounges), it has to be fictional, and has to be from a movie. That being said, the scenes could be filmed in a real restaurant. I’m also sticking to live-action restaurants but will give a shout out to two animated ones that I’d love to get a bite at. Keep in mind that I’m only including eateries I would actually want to get a meal. A word of advice; you might want to grab something to eat before you start reading this list because your tummy will be growling by number 7. So, wash your hands because this list is fresh from the oven!

Animated Shout Outs:

Gusteau’s- Ratatouille

Not the health inspectors favorite restaurant…

Health code violations be damned. As long as the rat in the kitchen washes his hands first, I’d be delighted to enjoy a meal either here or from Remy’s own restaurant Le Ratatouille.

Pizza Planet- Toy Story

The kid in me loves Pizza Planet. So does the adult.

Pixar just knows how to make cool looking movie restaurants. Pizza Planet has an awesome theme, cool games, and some pretty good looking pizza. Count me in for a night of fun here!

10. Shenanigans- Waiting…

Don’t mess with the people who handle your food and you’ll be fine.

Sure, Shenanigans might not look that great at first glance. It’s pretty much just like every other Chilis, Applebees, or TGIF chain out there. However, the staff is what has me curious about this fictional casual dining chain. Having personal experience in the hospitality industry, I can speak to Waiting being a mostly accurate representation of what it’s like to sling food for a living. Don’t let that scare you though, because as long as you treat your server with basic human decency, your food will be fine. Speaking of servers, who wouldn’t want to have Ryan Reynolds, Anna Faris or Justin Long taking their order? It’s the atmosphere that draws me to this place and the fact that you’re bound to see something crazy happening at Shenanigans. Besides, the chain has been referenced in plenty of other comedies over the years (like Super Troopers).

9. Good Burger- Good Burger

I hear they’ve got a pretty good burger.

For the sake of honesty, Good Burger is earning a spot on this list purely for nostalgia purposes. I grew up watching All That on “Snick” every Saturday night and fell in love with Kel Mitchell’s Ed, the fanatically devoted Good Burger employee. The thing is that even with his heart in the right place, Ed is a total screw up. In fact, I’m pretty sure he’s a walking health code violation thanks to all the workplace hijinks he gets up to (not to be confused with the fictional restaurant Shenanigans). I imagine Good Burger is probably on par with Whataburger or In-N-Out Burger, but the novelty of it has earned this fast food joint a place among the movie restaurants I’d most love to experience. I’m just not sure I’d want Ed handling my food…

8. Raoul’s– Gravy

They have chicken, beef, and long pig.

I’m always in the mood for Mexican food. There’s just something about it that always makes it sound like a good option. Now, I’ll admit that Raoul’s menu in the horror-comedy Gravy doesn’t look that appetizing, but that’s probably because I’m not a cannibal. However, it’s got that dingy cantina feel that makes it the perfect place to drink margaritas by the pitcher. It also has a hell of a chef in the kitchen named Yannick. Now it’s kind of weird to see a former Michelin star chef working in a grungy Mexican cantina, but I’m not going to ask too many questions about how he ended up there. Besides, the guy has enough talent to turn his co-workers into delicious meals in order to honor their death. As long as people aren’t on the menu, I’d be down for chips, salsa, and a wild night at Raoul’s.

7. The Café 80’S- Back To The Future Part II

The future’s idea of the past.

Another place I’d love to grab a bite to eat at just for the novelty of it. Back to the Future II was always my favorite of the three films, because it had such a wacky vision of what the future might hold. From the holographic trailer for “Jaws 19” to the hoverboards, all of it was just what the little kid version of me wanted. The Café 80’S was no exception with its classic diner set up, old school video games, and Robo-servers. It’s a theme restaurant that celebrates all the cheesiest aspects of a decade that were pretty cheesy to start with. It’s too bad that you would have to be a time-traveler to actually dine there though. Then again, 2015 already came and went. I guess The Café 80’S just goes on the list of things I’m most disappointed we don’t have by now. Right up there with flying cars and jet packs.

Couple of Honorable Mentions: The Paradise Restaurant from THE BIG NIGHT, and BAGDAD CAFE from the movie of same name.
