Movember: Hollywood Mustaches and Beards to Inspire Your Growth!

Here are some Beards and Mustaches to Inspire Your Movember Journey!

Movember is a time of year when men throw out their razors and let their facial hair blossom to raise awareness and funds for cancer research, and mental health issues facing men. You might have also heard it called “No Shave November,” but either way you cut it (or don’t as the case may be) it’s a good cause to get behind. Now, not all of us are blessed with the glorious gift of growing facial hair. That’s why I wanted to take a moment to give all of you participating or supporting Movember a little bit of inspiration to help you though that awkward initial stage of growing your beard or mustache where it looks like a patchy mess. You might want to chop it all off and call it a day, but I’ve gathered up a list of 5 inspirational beards and 5 beautiful mustaches from movies, as well as 5 celebrities who rock facial hair in real life. Let these magnificent men inspire you to see your Movember challenge through to the end!

Remember: Be sure to make a donation at the Movember Foundation. Proceeds go to prostate and testicular cancer research and mental health prevention for men.

Mustaches

Hieronymus Karl Frederick Baron von MunchausenThe Adventures of Baron Munchausen
The mustache of an adventurer.

Movember is a month to try anything when it comes to facial hair, and if you’re daring enough you can go for the full Bason Munchausen. John Neville rocked a mustache that was perfect for the alternative fairy tale that saw him undertake a grand adventure from the moon to under the sea. It’s a gentlemanly ‘stache that went out of style around the time that heads were rolling during the French Revolution, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t about time for a comeback. If you want the results of your Movember to stand out, you can’t go wrong with this pick.

Ron Burgundy- Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
The mustache of a man who knows what he’s talking about.

Will Ferrell proved it’s not the mustache, but how the man wears it in Anchorman. I’m sure all of us remember how frat guys used to quote the movie constantly after it came out. Well, if you were one of them and don’t want to seem like a complete tool, try copying the mustache this Movember instead of the lines. The film was filled with some pretty impressive facial hair, but Burgundy’s ‘stache made him the alpha of the group. It was a mustache you could trust. A mustache that you could believe in. A mustache that knew what the score was. That’s the kind of mustache Movember was made for.

Thorny- Super Troopers
The mustache of authority.

Some people say mustaches went out of style years ago. Yet, to this day it’s hard not to respect a man with a ‘stache. Super Troopers was filled with mustaches, but none of them commanded more authority than Jay Chandrasekhar’s as Thorny. All the other troopers looked up to his example and aspired to have a ‘stache half as glorious as his. It was a ‘stache that said, “Shut up and listen” when he walked in the room. If you want to earn a little respect this Movember, go for the full hairy caterpillar across the upper lip. The ladies might not love it, but by golly, they’ll respect it.

Bill ‘The Butcher’ Cutting- Gangs of New York
The mustache of a real bastard.

Of course, Movember isn’t just a time to aspire to be like the big screen heroes we know and love. There have been plenty of villains who have rocked the ‘stache over the years, and few were as terrifying as Daniel Day Lewis’s Bill The Butcher. That Snidely Whiplash curls at the ends simply screams “up to no good” and only a real bad boy can pull something like that off. Well, a bad boy and maybe a hipster. Either way, you’re bound to get plenty of attention when you show up with this villainous fuzz on your face. I might suggest not going for quite as greasy a look as old Bill though.

August Walker- Mission: Impossible- Fallout
The mustache of a man you don’t want to mess with.

I didn’t want to say this in front of the other mustaches, but… Mustaches are kind of lame. I mean, you either look like a dad or a cop for the most part, right? Wrong! Henry Cavill grew a mustache so powerful for Mission: Impossible that not even CGI could defeat it in Justice League. Not only that, but the guy managed to look like a full badass with it the whole time. If you want a mustache to aim for this Movember, look no further than August Walker. After all, if it’s good enough for Superman, it’s definitely good enough for you.
